President Abd Rabbo Mansour Hadi on Tuesday urged the Interior Ministry to begin making practical plans to decentralize the state’s central security administration.
He indicated to the National Dialogue Conference’s (NDC) outcomes and the country’s six region-decision made recently by the tasked committee, urging the Interior Ministry to alter the country’s centralized security vision in accordance with the NDC outcomes.
“Each region will assume its security responsibility and manage it in favor of the homeland security in general and the region in particular,” Hadi said in a speech he delivered at the opening session of the 22nd Conference of the Interior Ministry’s leaders.
He stressed that the Ministry should start as of now to work harder to qualify the local security staff at the level of districts and provinces and to make the required plans to do so.
The President also ordered the government to immediately initiate actions to prepare the civil registry and national figure.
The national figure will help solve a lot of our security, administrative, financial problems, ensure the integrity of the electoral process and combat corruption in civil, military and security bodies, he said.
“So, the government has to immediately search for funds for this vital project and accomplish it in accordance with the highest standards of transparency and efficiency.”
Hadi directed the Ministry’s leadership to draw annual and periodic plans upgrading the security performance and to pay more attention to the security services’ members in terms of training, rights, promotions, bonuses and wages in order to improve their living conditions.
The President also ordered to prevent policemen from taking fees from citizens for carrying out their duties, stressing that they come to the police stations looking for justice not to be blackmailed.
He also instructed to the leadership of the Interior Ministry and the political and national security services to punish negligent members whoever is and replace them with more dedicated ones.
He concluded his speech by underling he would continue to provide care and support for the Interior Ministry in order for advancing its performance.
