Yemen, EU, France discuss security cooperation

Interior Minister Abdo Hussein al-Tarib met on Thursday with the ambassadors of the European Union (EU) and France to Yemen.

The aspects of joint cooperation and coordination between Yemen and the EU and France the field of security were discussed in the meeting, as well as reviewing of the second phase of the EU project to support and develop the Yemeni police.

The minister pointed out that the security services began to recover and perform their tasks with confidence and high efficiency, stressing that the security services would provide security and protection to the diplomatic missions and their nationals working in Yemen.

In turn, the ambassadors of EU and France expressed their appreciation for the positive role of the security services which was clearly evident through the heroic and qualitative operations that targeted a terrorist cell involved in kidnapping and murdering foreigners working in the country.

The security services killed on Wednesday the mastermind of a terrorist cell that killed a Frenchman on Monday.

One more member of the terrorist cell was killed and another one arrested in the operation.

On Monday, a Frenchman was killed and another one was injured, both are security workers at the European Union mission in Sana’a, in a by-drive shooting took place in Hadda neighborhood, southern the capital Sana’a.
