Achievement level in executive matrix for NDC’s outcomes reviewed

The Cabinet reviewed at its meeting on Sunday a report on the achievement level in the executive actions matrix of the National Dialogue Conference (NDC)’s outcomes, which will be filed to the President for approval.
In its extraordinary meeting, under the chairmanship of Prime Minster Mohammed Salem Basindwa, the cabinet was briefed on the procedures and the draft resolutions for the implementation of the UN Security Council Resolution No. 2140 for the year 2014.

Prime Minister, Cuban ambassador discuss prospects of cooperation

Prime Minister Mohammed Salem Basendwa on Thursday received the Cuban ambassador David Paulovich on the occasion of his appointment as ambassador to Yemen.

During the meeting, both sides discussed how to develop relations, particularly in the medical and economic fields.

Basendwa welcomed the ambassador, hoping him all success in performing his diplomatic tasks and enhancing relations between Yemen and Cuba.

Paulovich affirmed that he will do best to develop bilateral relations, pointing out that more than 220 Cuban doctors are working in different provinces of Yemen.

PM meets SFD Vice President

Prime Minister Mohammed Salem Basindwa met here on Thursday with Vice President of the Saudi Fund for Development (SFD) Yousef al-Bassam.
During the meeting, Basindwa and al-Bassam discussed the cooperation relations between Yemen and the Fund in the current stage and future, particularly the progress of SFD-funded ongoing projects.

They also dealt with the new projects the Fund is scheduled to finance currently, including three projects to be carried out in the capital Sana’a of King Abdullah Medical City, worth of $230 million and construction of new ring road and Brash and Brash tunnel at a cost of $62 million.

WFP to provide food aid for 6 million Yemenis in 2014

The World Food Programme (WFP) intends to provide food aid for 6 million Yemenis, including 1 million of primary school’s children as part of its activities in the coming year, the WFP representative in Yemen said Tuesday.
During his meeting with Prime Minister Mohammed Salem Basindwa, Bishaw Parajuli said that the Programme has appropriated a budget of $495 million for its activities in Yemen from 2014 – 2016.

During the meeting, the Premier and the WFP representative reviewed aspects of the current and future cooperation between Yemen and the Programme, and its contributions to support the government’s efforts to encounter the problem of food shortages, especially in the food-poorest areas.
