An official meeting was held on Wednesday in the Japanese capital Tokyo between Yemen and Japan, co-chaired by the two foreign ministers, Abu Bakr al-Qirbi and Fumio Kishida.
During the meeting, al-Qirbi and Kishida reviewed the bilateral relations between the two friendly countries and means of enhancing them in addition to the current regional and international developments.
Al-Qirbi briefed Kishida on Yemen’s current political situation and the challenges the country faces, including economic, political stability and security challenges, stressing the importance of Japan’s support for Yemen to reduce these challenges.
The Yemeni official also stressed his country’s readiness to set up an active economic partnership with Japan, calling for Japanese companies to invest in Yemen.
For his part, the Japanese Minister told al-Qirbi that Tokyo will strengthen its support for Yemen’s coast guard capacity-building aimed at the pirate-infested Gulf of Aden.
Kishida also told al-Qirbi of Japan’s readiness to support Yemen’s nation-building efforts and its efforts to combat al-Qaeda-linked militants in the country.
