President Abdu Rabbu Mansour Hadi received on Tuesday credentials of the United States new Ambassador to Yemen Matthew H. Tueller.
During the meeting, Hadi welcomed Matthew, saying that the appointment of a new ambassador to Yemen very fast is reflecting the depth and strategic relations between Yemen and the United States.
“I have agreed with the US President Barack Obama to work together in the way of getting Yemen out of its security, political, and economic crises,” he added.
“Since the eruption of the 2011’s crisis, and the US has been playing a prominent role that averted Yemen from dragging into civil war,” Hadi said.
Hadi stressed the importance of cooperating of the US, EU and the GCC countries with Yemen in this circumstances in order to move the country out of its turmoil.
For his part, Tueller pledged steadfast and continuing U.S. support to the people of Yemen throughout the political transition process and beyond.
He highlighted the close partnership that the United States and Yemen have enjoyed and promised to redouble U.S. humanitarian assistance as well as further strengthen support for economic and security reforms.
“Through their political leaders, the people of Yemen are committed to establishing a new, democratic, peaceful, and prosperous future for their children and grandchildren; the United States has – and will continue – to stand with you as both a friend and a partner, in realizing that dream,” Tueller said.
Ambassador Tueller was nominated as United States Ambassador to Yemen by President Barack Obama on January 17th, 2014. His nomination was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on March 27th, and he was sworn in by U. S. Secretary of State John F. Kerry on May 8th. He arrived in Sana’a on May 27th, 2014.
