The U.S. government has strongly condemned the violence that occurred in Amran this week resulting in the loss of life among the armed forces personnel and innocent civilians.
“Offering condolences to the families’ victims, the U.S. government calls on Houthis to immediately halt all armed moves and stop their progress toward the capital Sana’a”, the U.S. Department of State said in a statement issued on Thursday and read by its spokeswoman Jen Psaki.
The statement called on all parties to avoid slipping into the armed activities and to refrain from holding political demonstrations that will only lead to further tensing of the already-tensed situation.
In the statement, the U.S. government called on the Houthis and all parties to abandon arms and participate peacefully in the political transition process that seeks to address the past injustices and build an inclusive ruling system to ensure a safe and prosperous future for all Yemenis.
It affirmed its support to the Yemeni government’s efforts to stop the armed conflict and hailed the efforts of President Abd Rabbo Mansour Hadi and his firm determination to implement the outcomes of the comprehensive national dialogue conference (NDC).
